CLINIQUE Acne Solutions 3-Steps Review

This past Summer I started getting stubborn pimples, like in-grown cystic pimples. Why god decided to punished me this way? I do not know. It could be stress. Anywho, I wanted to try something new from what I regularly use. To be honest, I’ve been loyal to another acne treatment kit for years and have been very happy with it, but I took a break from it back in May and stopped ordering it so I could cut some costs around my budget.  I’ve always seen the Clinique Acne Solutions products around in Sephora, Nordys, Ulta, etc but for some reason it always seemed too “basic” for me, and by “too basic” I mean nothing special or out of the ordinary( says the basic beauty b….I know….). Buuut, Clinique is a reputable brand and is dermatologist recommended, hypoallergenic and in my mind all that screams SAFE BET, so….I took the plunge. I bought the Acne Solutions 3-step Acne Kit at Nordstrom with hope and with some doubt (which is why I bought it at Nordstrom just in case I didn’t like it right away or my skin didn’t react well to it, I can just return it, no questions asked).

During my first week using the Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam, Clarifying Lotion and All-Over Clearing Treatment religiously day and night, I didn’t see a noticeable difference on my pimples. My skin started getting some dry patched, which can happen if your skin is sensitive to the salicylic acid, but nothing that some moisturizer couldn’t fix. However, I notice that no new pimples were growing so that was a good sign for me.  It wasn’t until the second-third week using the products that I started noticing some of my pimples go away. The dry patches started getting more intense so I started using the Clarifying Lotion every other day and the All Over Clearing Treatment only at night.  Though I was starting to see a difference on my face, I noticed that my ingrown pimples weren’t getting any better, which got me feeling really frustrated. On my fifth week using the kit, I had a special event that Saturday night. For those of you who follow me on Instagram you saw that I had a big birthday bash and it was around that time that I was like OMG how TF and I suppose to cover these 3D pimples that have a life of their own??  My sweet cousin Amanda brought in some reinforcement and for two to three days before my party I used Origins-Super Spot Remover, and let me tell you….it did wonders to my skin.  I used it for a day, three times a day and by the next morning one of my large ingrown pimples started creating a white head (yay!) and was able to pop it and clear it before my party! Combining that with the Cleansing Foam, Clarifying Lotion and All-Over Clearing Treatment it helped keep my skin clear AND get rid of my stubborn pimples. It became the perfect combo ♥ Let me list the Pros and Cons below.

PROs:

◊ Clinique is gentle enough on the skin that it doesn’t cause any major irritation or additional breakouts

◊ Helped clear my skin from existing acne

◊ Helps reduce the appearance of new acne

◊ Tinted Free

◊ Makeup applies well on top of it (huge plus! just make sure to moisturize before adding makeup)

CONs:

◊ Took a while to see results, for me it wasn’t until 2-3 weeks in that I started to see SOME results

◊ Didn’t help get rid of my ingrown pimples

Overall I am happy with the results I got from the Clinique Acne Solutions 3-Step Kit. This is a great kit if you suffer from mild acne, you get a break-out here and there and want to keep it under control. I would not recommend this product to people with acute acne such as cystic acne. Clinique is great brand because their products are so gentle on the skin, but if you’re in need of something more aggressive then I highly recommend you see a Dermatologist. There are so many products out there now that if you do suffer from serious acne don’t feel discouraged! There is something out there for you! You just might need a doctor’s signature for some of the products
